Bangkok prepares to take up chair of ASEAN in 2019
At Government House today, the Prime Minister chaired the National Committee for the ASEAN Summit 2019 and Related Meetings, by setting up subcommittees to run the events, as Thailand is the Chair of ASEAN next year.
Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-O-Cha as head of the National Committee for the ASEAN Summit 2019 said today that Thailand will take over the position of ASEAN Chair from Singapore on January 1st, 2019, therein overlapping the 2019 fiscal year and 2020 fiscal year.
The 34th ASEAN Summit and Foreign Minister Meeting and Related Meetings will take place in the first half of 2019.
Meanwhile the 35th ASEAN Summit, ASEAN+3, ASEAN+6 and Related Meetings will be held in November 2019.
He said Thailand focuses on stability, prosperity and the sustainability of the relationship between ASEAN members. Future populations of ASEAN, would be acknowledged as part of the Global Dynamic. To achieve the goal, all countries must cooperate and no one must be left behind.
Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office as the head of the Public Relations subcommittee says the Theme for ASEAN 2019 involves three areas namely Connectivity, Sustainable Development and a Future-orientation, while the logo will be unveiled at the Ceremony Of Passing The Chair, in November 2018 in Singapore.
The press center during the summits, official website, Social Media such as Facebook, Instagram and Line are also considered tools to promote ASEAN 2019 in Bangkok.
